Severe anaphylaxis, when not treated immediately may cause unconsciousness, nausea, and even death. There are a lot of over-the-counter medications that you can take when you have an allergic reaction.
But don’t you think that a more natural remedy is safer to use? Our bodies take a lot of different chemicals form other medications and foods that we take every day.
Maybe it is time to make use of herbs to treat allergies. Nettle is one such herb that you can use when those annoying allergies attack. Read on to learn of different ways to use nettle for allergies.
By boiling
Nettle leaves and roots can be boiled and the juice can be taken as it should be and it can be mixed with other beverages if you do not like the raw taste of it. The fluid extract must be drained so that the leaves will not get in the glass.
For boiled roots, take up to 2 ml, three to four times a day. For the leaves, take up to 5 ml, also three to four times a day.
You will notice that you need to drink less of the boiled roots than the leaves. That is because the roots are more powerful and has a stronger effect than the leaves.
By drinking nettle tea
You can make your own nettle tea by boiling a cup of water. When the water boils, pour in four to five tablespoons of dried nettle leaf and root.
Cook for another five minutes. You have to drink the tea three times a day to fully treat your allergies.
As a cream
There are nettle creams available that you can buy in drugstores. Apply the cream to the affected area. It may be a rash, a bump or a red spot that is caused by the allergic reaction.
Leave the ointment on the affected area for several hours to fully take effect. Apply the cream three times a day or until the rash or bump goes away.
As a powdered form
Dried nettle leaves and roots can be crushed and taken alone. If you do not want to take the powdered form by itself, you can crush the leaves and roots very finely and sprinkle them in your food. The taste will be masked by the taste of the food so it is easier to take.
When your allergies are no longer relieved by alternative medicines, it is time for you to visit your physician so your allergies can be given proper medication so it can be managed.
When the effect of your allergies is anaphylaxis, or the inability to breathe properly, do not trust its relief from any herbal medicine. Immediately go to your doctor to prevent more serious implications when not treated at once.
